The Female Founder Grant is for female veterans who have endured gender-based adversity, and who can demonstrate a serious intent to establish a veteran-owned social enterprise but who are not yet ready for major funding. A veteran-owned business is a company that is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a veteran. A social enterprise is an organization that applies commercial strategies to maximize improvements in financial, social and environmental well-being. The Female Founder Grant is for developing veteran-owned businesses that are directly involved in the sale of goods and services to a market, but that also have specific social objectives which serve as a primary purpose. Grant requests may be in the $500 to $5000 range, and funds may be used for supplies, training or life expenses. Potential grantees need not submit a business plan, but we do require a coherent overview of the planned venture including a description of 1) the business opportunity, 2) how your business will serve the market, 3) the customer base you will be targeting, 4) what makes your products or services appealing to the target market, and 5) what you will offer that your competitors do not.
The next application deadline is May 15, 2018 for grants that will be awarded on Flag Day (June 14, 2018). Recipients will be notified on June 1, 2018. Click on the image below to apply. Donate to the Female Founder Grant Fund here.
