Gender Roles in the Arts and Military

Kiniko_Willingham.jpgVA social worker and Air Force veteran Kiniko Willingham was in the audience at the November 19th matinee performance of Much Ado About Nothing. She joined audience and cast members for a post-show discussion about the plight of female veterans and service members. The actresses found commonality with Kiniko regarding their respective experiences in traditionally male roles. They talked about how the arts can access buried emotions and produce a deeper understanding of difficult issues. On a lighter note, Kiniko was asked whether or not it’s appropriate to tell a woman she’s beautiful. Short answer: It depends. Check out the video clip for her full response. The final three performances of Much Ado About Nothing will be held on December 1-3. Click here for info/tickets.
