THE ROCK CLUB
The Rock Club, presented by U.S. Tour of Duty in association with Rock For Vets, is dedicated to improving the lives and well-being of veterans by facilitating their engagement with other vets and the community. Coached by Frank McIllquham and Charles Fearing, participants reap the rewards of the small successes they experience while learning to perform as part of a band. FREE for everyone. No experience necessary. 1 to 3PM Thursdays in the Social Hall.
SONGWRITING & RECORDING
Will Nephew of Rock to Recovery coaches songwriters and musicians who collaborate with each other. It’s all about harnessing the healing energy of music through composing, playing as a band, and recording. Have fun expressing yourself, working as a group, and experiencing the natural high only music can produce. Maybe your song will be performed in one of our variety shows! FREE for everyone. No experience necessary. 4 to 5:30PM Thursdays in the Gateway Community Kitchen.
DANCE CLASS FOR TEENS
Nannette Brodie, the artistic director and principal choreographer for the Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre (NBDT), leads FREE weekly classes and rehearsals for our upcoming variety shows. The workshop is aimed at teens (13-18), and will include various styles of dance from jazz to contemporary to hip hop. According to Nannette, “Dance should be a celebration, an exploration of ourselves and our environment, of our culture and our world.” NBDT has given performances for over 275,000 people both within the Southern California area and by touring nationally and internationally, averaging 15 to 25 performances a year. In collaboration with musicians in our performance and songwriting workshops, Nannette will choreograph original compositions for U.S. Tour of Duty variety shows. No experience necessary. 4:30 to 5:30 Wednesdays in Anchor Studio.
